Mohini Ekadashi
"Sachidanand rupaya vishvotpatyadi hetve,
tapatraya vinashaya shri krsnaya vayam namah ”
Mohini Ekadashi falls in the month of Vaisakh or Shukla paksha (April-May) . Purshottam lord Rama is worshipped on this day. It is believed that whosoever observes a complete fast on this sacred day gets great benefits to live happily in this life and the next. Observing this ekadashi vrat helps achieve peace, honour and the divine pleasure of God to all mankind on this earth.tapatraya vinashaya shri krsnaya vayam namah ”
Story
Once Yudhisthira Maharaja asked Shree Krishna, "Oh Natwar Nagar! what is the name of the Ekadashi that occurs during the light fortnight (shukla paksha) of the month of Vaisakha. What is the process for observing it properly. Kindly narrate all of these details to me.
Lord Sri Krishna replied, "Oh Kunti's son ! After Sitaji's kidnap, when lord Rama was very disturbed, he came to his guru Vasistha and said- I am going through great grief and sadness in my life. Please enlighten me and the people of this world by showing us a means of overcoming great sorrows and troubles of this life. what Vasishtha Muni once told to Lord Ramachandra I shall now describe to you. Please hear Me attentively.
"Lord Rama asked Vasishtha Muni, 'Oh great sage, I would like to hear about the best of all fasting days that day which destroys all kinds of sins and sorrows. I have suffered long enough in separation from My dear Sita, and so I wish to hear from you about how My suffering can be ended.'
Vasishtha Muni replied, “O Prabhu, just by chanting your divine name makes a person happy in this life, but yet for the benediction of mankind the vrat of Mohini Ekadashi relieves one from all troubles of life and society.”
'On the banks of the Sarasvati River there was once a beautiful city named Bhadravati, which was ruled by King Dyutiman. Oh Rama, that steadfast, truthful, and highly intelligent king was born in the dynasty of the Moon. In his kingdom was a merchant named Dhanapal, who possessed a great deal of wealth of food grains and money. He was also very pious. Dhanapal arranged for lakes to be dug, sacrificial arenas to be erected, and beautiful gardens to be cultivated for the benefit of all the citizens of Bhadravati. He was an excellent devotee of Lord Vishnu and had five sons: Sumana, Dyutiman, Medhavi, Sukriti, and Dhrishthabuddhi.
'Unfortunately, his son Dhrishthabuddhi was a great sinner and performed dreadful acts to the people of the village, such as sleeping with prostitutes and associating with similar degraded persons. He enjoyed illicit sex, gambling, and many other illegal acts. Dhrishthabuddhi spent up his father's wealth indiscriminately, always feasting on untouchable foods and drinking alcohol to excess.
Upon learning of his son’s misconduct, Dhanpal and his sons kicked him out of their house. After being disowned by his father and brothers Dhrishthabuddhi was left with no money to spend on prostitutes and other illegal activities, therefore his friends and prostitutes distanced themselves from him. Dhrishthabuddhi was now full of anxiety, and also hungry. He then began to steal. The king's constables arrested him, but when they learned who it was, and that his father was the famous Dhanapal, they released him. He was caught again but time the ill-mannered Dhrishthabuddhi was apprehended, handcuffed, and then beaten. After whipping him, the king's marshals warned him and threw him out of their kingdom.
Dhrishthabuddhi thereafter entered the dense forest. He wandered here and there, hungry and thirsty and suffering greatly. Eventually he began killing the jungle animals for food. Dhrishthabuddhi was always miserable and anxious, but one day, during the month of Vaisakha, by the force of some of his past merit he chanced upon the sacred Ashram of Kaundinya Muni. The great sage had just finished bathing in the Ganges River, and water was dripping from him still. Dhrishthabuddhi had the great good fortune to touch some of those droplets of water that were falling from the great sage's wet clothing. Instantly Dhrishthabuddhi was freed of his ignorance, and his sinful reactions were reduced. Offering his humble obeisance's to Kaundinya Muni, Dhrishthabuddhi prayed to him with joined palms; "Oh great brahman! I have committed so many sins in my life, please describe to me some of the atonement I may perform without too much Endeavour and expense.
The Rishi replied, “Oh Dhrishthabuddhi! you have overcome most of your suffering by just realizing your mistake. To get yourself cleansed further and achieve salvation you must perform the great vrat of Mohini Ekadashi with full reliance and devotion to God Almighty. This vrat will bestow you with a place in the heavens.”
Thereafter on the next Vaisakha, Dhrishthabuddhi performed the vrat as advised by Kaundinya Rishi. As time went by, Dhrishthabuddhi became free from sins and after his death, achieved a divine body, sat on Garud and ascended to the heavenly abode Vaikunth.”
‘Oh Rama! the fast of Mohini Ekadashi removes the darkest illusory attachments to material existence. There is thus no better fast day in all the three worlds than this. And He who hears and studies the glories of Mohini Ekadashi achieves the merit of giving away one thousand cows in charity."

Every weekend we hold a Saturday and Sunday feast. Come and join us for an evening of chanting, dancing, music, talks and a delicious vegetarian feast.
IsKcon - how I joined?
Well... on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya.... I became a lifetime member of IsKcon.
Mom and me went searching for the Iskcon temple but could just just not find it yesterday. We searched all around - I had checked the internet for the address and went onlooking for the same..... but somehow couldnt find it :(
The sprain the right foot was not letting me walk around much. Dear mom just drove wherever I requested her.
I was so very sad and asked Krishna why is this happening - some how I just wanted to atleast visit the temple - we visited other temples - no to forget that - but Iskcon.... :)
it was Akshay Tritiya..... (Apr 19, 2007) - and I thought what more beautiful a day to start some new membership..... :)
well... from 12pm to 2pm we were touring the city but no results.....
Mom finally said jab bhagwan ji ki iccha hogi, tabhi darshan honge....
and I was like no mom we gotta find it - finally we dropped the idea (though I thought I'd try once more in the evening- I just knew it was around and couldnt locate it - had an inkling that the temple was somwhere near my home itself - do not know how... but I got that feeling)
Well, it was evening and prayer time..... I prayed to Krishna and asked him "why you doing this" :(
Well... the next day dawned.....
the whole morning I was busy with work.... came home early.... was fasting..... slept for sometime.... and dreamt of Radha and Krishna......in pinkish - goldenish attire......
woke up.... saw mom around busy with household chores.....
Ssuddenly in the evening..... I went out of the house... determined I HAD to find the temple somehow - I took a rickshaw - and told the rickshaw-wallah to take me to "Hare Krishna Mandir" - in the mentioned Sector...... we both struggled the same way like me n mom did a day earlier.... :((
It was already 745pm, and dark..... and I have never stayed out so late......
suddenly I thought I'd go and ask the chowkidar of the "biggest temple"..... he guided me somewhere near my home.......
well the rickshaw wallah and me again began our "search"..... and finally found the IsKcon temple. It was still being constructed..... I saw two lovely devotees coming out with prasadam.... and I went and asked them how do we become a member... they forwarded me to panditji... known as "Gaur Kishor".....
He asked me to visit the temple and get the divine darshan till he would go and get the registration forms.
I went to the newly built part and could hear the lovely bhajans - and to my astonishment - I saw Krishna and Radha's most beautiful murtis in pinkish - goldenish attire - the same I had dreamt :)
I was spell bound! Hare Krishna Hare Rama.....
I took permission and shot a pic , and a small video [there was so much lighting that allz not that clear in the same, but I'd still upload the same onYoutube].
well - all forms signed et al... [I wasnt carrying any cheque books/ enough money for the complete lifetime membership fee - and "Gaur ji" was kind enough to let me pay the partial amount - whatever I could - that day and remaining later - Hare Krishna :)], I was a happy member of IsKcon - and Gaur ji told me you know you have chosen a very auspicious day of "Akshay Tritiya". I asked him that was yesterday and that me and mom tried very hard but couldnt find the temple.
He said no - as per "Vaishnava calendar", it was on Apr 20, 2007.
I justdo not know what to say more..... the only thing which comes out is "Hare Krishna Hare Rama"....
I took the books, prasadam, and went back home chanting.....

qualification for going to the spiritual world
Devotee: Srila Prabhupada, what is the qualification for going to thespiritual world?Srila Prabhupada: The first qualification is to always remember that thismaterial world is a place of misery (duhkhalayam). Then you can go to thespiritual world. As long as you think, "Oh, this material world is verynice," you have to remain here.Quoted in Btg #17-06, 1982 ================================================================A devotee is naturally so humble and meek that he accepts any condition of life as a blessing from the Lord …. A devotee always accepts punishment from anyone as the mercy of the Lord. If one lives in this conception of life, he sees whatever reverses occur to be due to his past misdeeds, and therefore, he never accuses anyone. On the contrary, he becomes increasingly attached to the Supreme Personality of Godhead because of his being purified by his suffering. Suffering, therefore, is also a process of purification. Srimad Bhagavatham, 6.17.17

Sri Radhika (Radha, Radharani)
Among all the beautiful gopis Srimati Radharani is the best. Radharani is the queen of Vrndavana. She has many famous friends, headed by Lalita and Visakha.
Sri Krsna, the cowherd prince whose charming sweetness has no equal or superior, is very dear to Srimati Radharani. She considers Him millions and millions of times more dear than Her own life's breath.
Yasoda-devi, the queen of the cowherds, is more affectionate to Radharani than millions of mothers can be. Radharani's father is King Vrsabhanu, who is as splendid as the sun.
Srimati Radharani's mother is Kirtida-devi, who is also known in this world as Ratnagarbha-devi. Radharani's paternal grandfather is Mahibhanu and Her maternal grandfather is Indu.
Her maternal grandmother is Mukhara-devi and Her paternal grandmother is Sukhada-devi. Her father's brothers (Her uncles) are Ratnabhanu, Subhanu and Bhanu.
Bhadrakirti, Mahakirti and Kirticandra are Radharani's materal uncles. Menaka-devi, Sasthi-devi, Gauri-devi, Dhatri-devi and Dhataki-devi are Radharani's materal aunts.
Radharani's mother's sister is Kirtimati-devi, whose husband is Kasa. Radharani's father's sister is Bhanumudra-devi, whose husband is Kusa.
Radharani's elder brother is Sridama and Her younger sister is Ananga-manjari. Radharani's father-in-law is Vrkagopa and Her brother-in-law is Durmada.
Jatila-devi is Radharani's mother-in-law and Abhimanyu is Radharani's so-called husband. Kutila-devi, who is always eager to find fault, is Radharani's sister-in-law.
Lalita, Visakha, Sucitra, Campakalata, Ranga-devi, Sudevi, Tungavidya and Indulekha are the eight dearest friends of Srimati Radharani. These gopis are considered the leaders of all the others.
Kurangaksi, Mandali, Mankiundala, Matali, Candralalita, Madhavi, Madanalasa, Manjumedha, Sasikala, Sumadhya, Madhureksana, Kamala, Kamalatika, Gunacuda, Varangada, Madhuri, Candrika, Prema-manjari, Tanumadhyama, Kandarpa-sundari and Manjukesi are among the millions of dear friends (priya-sakhi) of Srimati Radharani.
Lasika, Kelikandali, Kadambari, Sasimukhi, Candrarekha, Priyamvada, Madonmada, Madhumati, Vasanti, Kalabhasini, Ratnavali, Manimati and Karpuralatika are among those friends (jivita-sakhi) for whom Srimati Radharani is as dear as life.
Kasturi, Manojna, Manimanjari, Sindura, Candanavati, Kaumudi and Madira are among Sriamti Radharani's eternal friends (nitya-sakhi).
Ananga-manjari, Rupa-manjari, Rati-manjari, Lavanga-manjari, Raga-manjari, Rasa-manjari, Vilasa-manjari, Prema-manjari, Mani-manjari, Suvarna-manjari, Kama-manjari, Ratna-manjari, Kasturi-manjari, Gandha-manjari, Netra-manjari, Sripadma-manjari, Lila-manjari and Hema-manjari are among Srimati Radharani's manjari friends. Prema-manjari and Rati-manjari are both also known by the name Bhanumati-devi.
Srimati Radharani's worshipable deity is the sun-god, who enlivens the lotus flowers and acts as an eye for the entire world. Srimati Radharani's maha-mantra is the name of Lord Krsna. Srimati Radharani's benefactor, who brings Her all good fortune, is Bhagavati Paurnamasi.
In Radharani's garden is a vine of golden jasmine flowers that She has named Tadidvalli ("the vine of lightning"). Her private lake bears Her own name (Radha-kunda) and on the shore of that lake is a kadamba tree that is the site of very confidential talks between Her and Lord Krsna.
Her favorite ragas are mallara and dhanasri and Her favorite dances are chalikya and rudravallaki.
Srimati Radharani's glorious birth occured on the eighth day of the bright moon in the month of Bhadra. Although generally not full on that day, the moon appeared full to celebrate Radharani's appearance in this world. (SSRKGD)
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Sri Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It is therefore said, sri-krsna-caitanya, radha-krsna nahe anya: "Two personalities--Srimati Radharani and Sri Krsna--are combined in the incarnation of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu." (CC Madhya 5.142-143p)
In Brhad-gautamiyatantra it is said: Sri Radha is known as Devi, Krsnamayi, Supreme Goddess in whom all Laksmis reside; Her beauty and charm defeat that of all others.
In a supplement to the Rg-veda it is said: Among all people, Radhika and Madhava together are the most beautiful. In the Matsya-purana: In Varanasi, She is known as Sri Visalaksi, and in Purusottama-ksetra, She is called Sri Vimala. In Dvaraka, She is Sri Rukmini, and as the queen of the Vrndavana forest, She is called Sri Radha.
In the Ujjvala-nilamani, a statement taken from the Padma-purana says: Just as Sri Radha is the most beloved of Sri Krsna, similarly Sri Radha-kunda is also very dear. Among all the gopis, Sri Radha is the dearest lover of Sri Krsna.
In the Radha-prakarana of Ujjvala-nilamani it is said: Sri Radhika’s body is composed of maha-bhava. The greatest of all saktis is the hladini-sakti. Therefore it is called maha-sakti. Of that, the essence is madana, which is the zenith of maha-bhava. Sri Radha is the embodiment of that highest maha-bhava. This conclusion is well established.
In the Gopalottara-tapani, She is glorified as Gandharva. This daughter of Vrsabhanu has a very beautiful form and wears 16 items of beautification (srngara) and 12 types of ornaments (abharana).
Sri Radha’s age is in the middle of the kaisora period. Just as previously, Krsna’s age was increased by half again, so Radha’s age is increased to 14 years, 2 months and 15 days. She has a strong feeling that Krsna belongs to Her (madiyata-bhava), as well as madhu-sneha (a very sweet affectionate mood). Her love for Krsna is pure, powerful and lasting, and She has various kunjas for Her pastimes with Him. Her home is in Yavatagrama, Her mother’s name is Kirtida, and Her father’s Vrsabhanu. Her husband’s name is Abhimanyu, Durmukha is Her brother-in-law, Jatila is Her mother-inlaw, and Kutila is Her sister-in-law. Just as Sri Krsna always exists as the nayaka (heroic lover), Sri Radhika is forever the principal nayika (heroine).
Sri Radha’s sakhis are of five types: sakhi, nitya-sakhi, prana-sakhi, priya-sakhi, and parama-prestha-sakhi. Kusumika, Vindhya, Dhanistha and others are known as sakhis. Kasturika, Mani Manjari, etc., are known as nitya-sakhis. Sasimukhi, Vasanti, Lasika, etc., are known as prana-sakhis. These gopis usually have forms (or natures) similar to Sri Radha. Kurangaksi, Sumadhya, Madanalasa, Kamala, Madhuri, Manjukesi, Kandarpasundari, Madhavi, Malati, Kamalata and Sasikala, etc., are priya-sakhis. Lalita, Visakha, Citra, Campakalata, Tungavidya, Indulekha, Rangadevi and Sudevi are the parama-prestha-sakhis. These eight gopis are chief amongst them all. They are worthy of being yuthesvaris (group leaders) themselves, but because they love Radha so much, they would rather be Her sakhis. (SGGSP)
Among all the beautiful gopis Srimati Radharani is the best. Radharani is the queen of Vrndavana. She has many famous friends, headed by Lalita and Visakha.

They are worthy of being yuthesvaris (group leaders) themselves, but because they love Radha so much, they would rather be Her sakhis. (SGGSP)

The devotees are always in My heart
In Srimad-Bhagavatam (9.4.68), the Lord says:
sadhavo hridayam mahyam
sadhunam hridayam tv aham
mad-anyat te na jananti
naham tebhyo manag api
"The devotees are always in My heart, and I am always in the hearts of the devotees. The devotee does not know anything beyond Me, and I also cannot forget the devotee. There is a very intimate relationship between Me and the pure devotees. Pure devotees in full knowledge are never out of spiritual touch, and therefore they are very much dear to Me."
Akshay Tritiya
The word "Akshay" means the never diminishing in Sanskrit. It represents eternal prosperity for any new beginnings made or valuables bought on this day
If you have something to be started, and esp want that it should be prosperous, and be with you ever... do it on Akshay Tritiiya (fallling on Apr 19, 2007 this year).
The most auspicious day for marriages - if there is some fight on, esp due to kundlis' mismatch, then just trust Lord Vishnu and go ahead with the marriage. This year Abhishek's and Aishwarya's marriage is hence taking place on Akshay Tritiya.
Kanya daan, Vidya daan, and akshat (rice / ann) daan are considered to yield many-fold benefits.
Akshaya Tritiya day is the very auspicious day - there's no inauspiciousness to be found today so even checking muhurthas is considered unnecessary, so auspicious it is. Whatever one does for devotees, and for Krsna that person will get more benefit and it is eternal benefit and never lost.
